The last 5 years have seen over £1.5bn invested into the Clyde Gateway area from both public and private sectors. This covers a diverse range of projects, all of which contribute to the overall success of the area and provide a base for ongoing investment.

  • Opening of the new £113m Emirates Arena and Velodrome, providing world-class sporting and leisure facilities.
  • Investment in public transport including an £11m upgrade to Dalmarnock Railway Station and investment in both Rutherglen and Bridgeton stations.
  • Completion of the M74 extension at a cost of over £445m, providing three new junctions and connecting the area to the national road network.
  • Development of the award winning Eastgate building which is now home to 400 Community Safety Glasgow employees
  • Redevelopment of the former Olympia Theatre to provide a new public library, café, Mediatheque and office space
  • Provision of business space for small and medium sized businesses at Red Tree Business Centres in Rutherglen and Bridgeton
  • Creation of a range of industrial space bringing employment opportunities at Clyde Gateway East and Clyde Gateway Trade Park.
  • Development of a new 700 home riverside community built to the highest environmental standards
  • Creation of a new community hub beside The Village and the Arena providing community meeting space, café, retail and business space
  • New £5m urban woodland park at Cuningar accessed by a new footbridge across the Clyde
  • Preparation of major new development sites at Rutherglen, Dalmarnock and Shawfield to accommodate significant new mixed use opportunities
  • Upgrading to key public realm routes and spaces including new pedestrian bridges and pathways
